#Indira medical College Exclusive and special story. #Ragging atrocity MBBS student murder.
A shocking incident has come to light at Indira Medical College in Pandur, near Thiruvallur, where a second-year MBBS student, Asher Emmanuel, was allegedly beaten to death due to ragging.
The Incident
Asher Emmanuel, son of Raghu from Muthiapuram, Sundar Nagar, Thoothukudi district, was a resident at the college hostel. It is reported that four of his seniors frequently harassed and ragged him. The harassment allegedly included forcing him to fetch food from the canteen, buy cool drinks, and go out to purchase cigarettes for them.
Asher had reportedly informed the hostel management, his relatives, and his mother about this harassment multiple times. On April 8, 2026, around 2:00 PM, the seniors reportedly assaulted him for refusing to go to the canteen to get food.
When Asher resisted, the four seniors—identified as Kavin, Sivapriyan, Rasheed, and Pugazh—allegedly beat him indiscriminately, chased him, and pushed him off the fifth floor of the hostel building.
Allegations of Negligence and Cover-up The victim’s parents believe that CCTV footage from the hostel would reveal the truth. They claim that when other out-of-state students screamed during the incident, no hostel authorities responded immediately. It was only after being called on their mobile phones several minutes later that they arrived. Asher was found lying on the ground floor in a pool of blood with severe head and body injuries; he reportedly died on the spot.

The college management allegedly transported his body to Ramachandra Hospital in Chennai using their own ambulance. Doctors there confirmed he had been dead for approximately two hours before placing the body in the mortuary. A hostel official later informed Asher’s mother via phone that her son had “fallen” from the terrace and died.

Accusations of Planned Murder
Distraught by the news, the parents rushed from Thoothukudi to Chennai and filed a complaint at the Thiruvallur Taluk Police Station. They alleged that their son was murdered in a planned manner and named the four seniors as responsible.
Thiruvallur V.G. Rajendran current DMK MLA.
However, the police have registered the case as a “suspicious death” rather than a murder. It is further alleged that the college owner’s husband, V.G. Rajendran (the current DMK MLA for Thiruvallur), attempted to negotiate a “compromise” with the parents. When the parents refused, they claim Rajendran resorted to intimidation.

Calls for Justice and Reform Asher’s parents have raised serious allegations regarding the college environment, stating that alcohol, cigarettes, and ganja are commonly used in the hostel at night. They are demanding that the police alter the charges to murder and arrest the four accused students.
Social activists are now calling for: Mandatory Psychological Counseling: Weekly sessions in all private and government colleges to address student mental health and prevent suicides. Grievance Mechanisms: Installation of complaint boxes and direct reporting lines to the management. Strict Prohibitions: Permanent expulsion for students possessing drugs or alcohol on campus.
Political Backdrop:
The victim’s relatives expressed that despite his political stature, MLA V.G. Rajendran should empathize with a grieving parent’s pain. They noted that Rajendran has been re-nominated by his party to contest in the upcoming elections, despite local dissatisfaction and allegations that hostel students are being pressured into his election campaign.
Local residents in the Thiruvallur constituency have questioned how someone who cannot ensure justice for his own students will serve the public.
Note: We attempted to contact the college administration multiple times for their statement, but the calls went unanswered. We remain ready to publish Indira Medical College’s version of events should they choose to provide an explanation regarding the death of Asher Emmanuel.
